“Wait and see” behaviour pushes growth in Denmark’s new non-residential construction sector to 2026.

Denmark’s new non-residential construction sector is heading for recovery on the back of a challenging downturn. In contrast to other sectors of the construction industry, the new non-residential construction sector is not expected to grow in 2025. Political uncertainty, such as trade conditions, has resulted in the postponement of manufacturing building projects. On the other hand, 2026 appears to be a strong growth year, with double-digit increases for several building types.

Despite positive growth projections, the Danish construction landscape faces structural challenges that will shape its future trajectory. Labour shortages continue to constrain sector expansion. The market’s evolution is increasingly influenced by climate adaptation priorities and environmental regulations. This dynamic environment suggests that growth will be uneven across sectors, with traditional patterns giving way to more sustainable and renovation-focused construction strategies. In the short term, however, growth and production capacity will be directed back towards new residential construction projects.
