Prognosesenteret
Norway - full speed - the more you drive the more we build! by Kjell Senneset
In general the outlook is very positive. The mainland economy of Norway is expected (June 2006) to grow by 2,7%
this year, 1,8% next year and 2,3% in 2008. The economy is now working nearly at full strength and the growth
rate would have been even higher with more qualified labour available. There is a strong sense of optimism among
the households (there is 29% more optimists than pessimist), in the manufacturing enterprises and in the
business community in general. This positive development has already caused centralisation to speed up
and net growth in population is record high, much thanks to net migration. This picture is likely to
continue throughout the forecast period 2006 - 2008.
